Karnival vs Beatroot, Cabaret Voltaire, Edinburgh, 12 Jan

Karnival is a night that has proved itself more than capable of taking on Edinburgh's club scene. Having established itself as major contender, it recently made the switch from a Thursday slot to a regular Saturday night - a sign of success if there ever was one. The name suggests what to expect - an almost Latino party spirit, complete with dancers and magicians. Having attracted big names such as Tim Deluxe and Funk D'Void, this month's Karnival sees them team up with another local night, Beatroot. The monthly event at Ego has seen them attract sets from the likes of Audiojack and Alex Smoke for their style of techno, house and electro.
