In an effort to ensure that the only difficult aspect of your Halloween is deciding whether or not the fake blood capsules are a good idea, here is a run down of the finest nights offering blood on the dancefloor this weekend.

In Aberdeen The Tunnels throws its Halloween Party on 31 October, splitting the venue between Trash Disco and Tut Vu Vu for the evening. Meanwhile, on the same night, Let It Bleed have booked Ed Banger’s DJ Mehdi for their Halloween celebrations and have promised to bring in a Funktion One soundsystem in order to loosen the granite across the city.

The Reading Rooms in Dundee hosts it’s annual Halloween bash, offering a mash up of rock and metal with the added bonus of costume prizes. Elsewhere in Dundee, the London Nightclub puts on its Halloween Glam evening, both events take place on 31 October.

The Wee Red Bar in Edinburgh kicks off the city’s horror themed parties with Zombie Halloween Night, offering a dark mixture of techno and house music on 29 October. The following night at the Bongo Club is something very special indeed, as the now infamous Confusion is Sex throws its first ever Halloween Ball. Special guests come in the form of the Auld Reekie Roller Girls and discounted entry is available for anyone in costume.

On 31 October head down to Picardy Place for an early Halloween costume fundraiser that’s all in aid of Motor Neurone Disease Scotland. Later on in the evening there’s a variety of choice across the city, starting off with Stereotype at Berlin. Music will be provided by Huggy, Dean Newton, Stu Todd and others, with free entry to anyone who makes a particularly bold effort on the costume front.

Cleaning up the aftermath of the previous evening’s Halloween Ball, the Bongo Club opens its doors for a residents evening of Halloween Headspin, whilst Studio 24 dish out costume prizes along with a rock and metal soundtrack.

Finally, Glasgow has more Halloween themed nights than you could shake a freshly severed limb at. 30 October boasts a typically strong line-up at Pressure, with Green Velvet, Slam, Alex Under, Raresh, Tadeo, Silicone Soul and Robert Hood all set to appear. Just pray to the god of connecting flights that it all goes according to plan. The Arches horror theme runs straight through to the following evening with Inside Out inviting Marcel Woods, Headhunterz, Simon Patterson and others in an attempt to make heads roll.

Up the arty on 31 October will be this year’s installment of Subcity Radio’s Halloween party featuring over the top costumes and retina scotching visuals of the undead. Music is provided by Falconi Bros, Saavedra, The Sober Session, Men & Machines, Shaun Fae Solar, Johnny Whoop and Boom Monk Ben.

Down at The Flying Duck, Pin Up Nights finally gets to host a Halloween themed evening after six years of the calendar date evading them. Renamed Pin Up Frights for the night, the venue promises to be decorated in a suitably terrifying fashion as RBRBR, The Plimptons and The Cracks in the Concrete all play live alongside resident DJs on 30 October.

How’s Your Party? present Fake Blood and a very special live show from Drums of Death at the Sub Club on 30 October, whilst Fun Size launches at the newly opened Max’s Kansas City on the same night. On Halloween, the appropriately named DFA signing Holy Ghost! appear at Subculture at the Sub Club.

1 November is a Sunday, which can mean only one thing at this time of year, Optimo Espookio. Horror sounds, thick smoke, terror strobes, live music from Cold Cave and the most competitive costume competition in the country. Seriously, last years winners were Anna Nicole Smith, a fanny pad and Captain Beefheart’s Trout Mask Replica. You better up your game before the Sabbath, that zombie outfit isn’t going to cut it here.
