Optimo Rave Against Racism @ Sub Club, Fri 5 Aug

A fundraiser for Glasgow’s Coalition For Racial Equality & Rights (CRER), Optimo's Rave Against Racism asks punters to donate to this very worthy organisation, whose mission is to “Protect, enhance and promote the rights of ethnic minority communities across all areas of life in Scotland; and to empower ethnic minority communities to strengthen their social, economic and political capital, especially those at greatest risk of disadvantage.”

Twitch and Wilkes will be playing all night; minimum donation is £8 and if you are unemployed (and bring proof) the minimum donation is £2. 100% of money raised will be donated to CRER, so get along and club for a good cause.

Animal Farm with Jonas Kopp & Stephanie Sykes @ The Art School, Fri 5 Aug

Techno collective Animal Farm host a couple of special guests at The Art School this Friday – along with Quail and Turtle, the outfit also welcome back Jonas Kopp, one of Argentina’s finest music makers.

An accomplished DJ, re-mixer and live performer, Kopp’s genre-pushing brand of house has drawn comparisons to Leon Vynehall, Marcel Dettman and Ryan Elliot. Stephanie Sykes, a current resident at London’s Jaded, also makes her Glasgow debut on the night.

SMD Boat Party + After Party/ Late Nite Tuff Guy @ Riverside Museum, Sat 6 Aug

Glasgow-based boat party SMD return this weekend with the freshest sounds in underground house, disco and techno, celebrating the summer season with a massive eight-hour party led by Australian disco king (and former techno spinner under the alias DJ HMC), Late Nite Tuff Guy.

He’ll kick off with a four-hour boat party that sets sail from Glasgow’s Riverside Museum, where Craig McHugh and Don’t Drop will also be on hand for seafaring tunes, before the after party at Admiral Bar has LNTG, Vilmos and Gary Hunter keeping the good times flowing.

Coming Up...

Tickets are being rapidly snapped up for Guy Gerber's recently announced Sub Club date on 15 Sept, with the Israeli-born DJ rated as one of the best touring acts in dance music (he's appreared in the top ten of Resident Advisor’s annual poll three years in a row). Gerber put in a solid show at this year's T in The Park, so expect another high-energy tech-hybrid workout from the talented performer.

Meanwhile, Bicep's hotly anticipated live show in Glasgow on 19 Aug has sold out, but last release tickets for their Edinburgh gig at Liquid Room on 20 August are still available if you're quick, and there's support from local talent Jasper James on the night, too.
