Drum & Breaks Curriculum - July, 2008

July sees the launch of several clubnights in Scotland, with The Reading Rooms, GRV and Bongo all hosting brand new events.

We start at the GRV on Sunday 6 Jul where new night Malicious Mischief will be unleashing some of the hardest, darkest, nastiest drum and bass heard in Edinburgh. What better way to work off that Sunday roast.

The following Saturday (12 Jul) it’s time for Pangea’s annual barbeque at The Reading Rooms. Each year Dundee’s flagship drum and bass night put on a feast of food, fun and music to sink your teeth into. This year sees Big Toe's Hifi, Capitol 1212, Profisee, Bigg Taj, Loops Haunt, and Dave Lowe all playing. Entry is £9 for advance tickets and £12 on the door. (4pm until late)

Again at The Reading Rooms, new night Hyrule opens its doors for the first time on Friday 18 Jul. For the launch party residents Ken Swift, Bruce Anderson and JEKT will be taking you on a journey into ‘the land of house and breaks’. Entry is £6.

Back in Edinburgh on Thursday 24 Jul, Tam O Banter’s new night Ghantin will be occupying the Bongo for a night of hardtek and breakcore. Headliner for the evening is France’s greatest export, Redrum. Entry is only £3 and even free before midnight so definitely worth checking out.

On the Friday (25 Jul), Scottish giants Xplicit welcome the return of 4-deck supremo Temper D to the Bongo. Entry's a bargain at only £8.

And one more for the calendar: a three-room assault from Noiseteez on the 18 Jul with hip-hop, grungy electro and good old-fashioned D'n'B (Berlin, 10-3, £3/5, drinks promos). [Al Majik]
