Drum and Bass Round-up

Feature by Dave O'Donnell | 15 Jun 2006
Friday 2nd June brings the return of the Codenine boys and their liquid smoothness to the City Café (from 9pm), and then Red Alert Overchore kicks off at the Wee Red with guests from Urizen and Obscene (10.30pm - 3am, £4/3). June is also a month of change for the scene in Scotland. Following the closure of the Honeycomb at the beginning of the year, the Venue is also set to close and its last DnB party will be on the 3rd. DJs from Mischief, Rogue State, Xplicit and Obscene will all be representing alongside special guests Chase and Status (The Venue, £8). Over in Glasgow, Urizen have also sadly decided to call it a day. However, the weekly Scottish Drum and Bass Sessions continue every Wednesday at the Liquid Lounge (£3). Although details are sparse, rumours are rife that the crew have earned themselves a weekend spot starting on Friday June 29, so keep an eye out for that. It will be interesting to see how the scene deals with the changes that June brings. Although it seems to be a challenging period, we have heard of exciting new developments in the Autumn, so look out for the positive impact! [Dave O'Donnell]
