Edinburgh's newest musical community dig up the finest musical treats from their capacious crates

Article by Omar Kudos | 16 Apr 2006
Diggin' Deeper celebrates a year of quality soundclashes between the best of Scotland's live bands and the celebrated Dig Deep Allstars. The Dig Deep project at deepdig.com has been a fantastic endeavour, allowing bands such as D.O.P.E., The Virgin Teeth and Ten Storeys High to share music and creative output in an online community, like a smaller-scale myspace. The resulting website is an interesting read, and the Diggin' Deeper showcases that result are always great value and great entertainment. The birthday bash looks set to be a big one, with live music from beatbox/funk/folk combo Gecko 3, and some "dirty Weedgie funk" from up-and-coming band Black History Month. D.O.P.E.'s DJ Default and Hooverfish provide some heavy cinematic hip-hop in Room Two, while Allstars members The Don, Turbo & Euan Robertson play a heady mix of breaks, electro and hip-hop in the main room. Come and raise a glass to the future success of Edinburgh's newest musical community, as they dig up the finest musical treats from their capacious crates.
