DJ CHART - Patrick Walker (Avionix, Hard_Scape, Mindnet) 08/06

Really hits the spot

Feature by Alex Burden | 14 Aug 2006

1. Emanuel Top - Asteroid (Novamute)
A spaced-out tech classic, it helped cement the minimal style back when it all kicked off.

2. Christian vogel - Never Too Late (Cari Leckebusch mix) ({rimevil)
Introduced me to the concept of vocoders, which beforehand I hadn't paid much attention too. A timeless peice of dancefloor techno with a really hook-y vocal.

3. Matthew Jonson - Magic Through Music (It is what it is)
A lovely piece of melodic electro/techno which reminds me an awful lot of some of the Union Jack releases on Platipus.

4. Justin Berkovi - The Server Sleeps (Pro-jex)
Doodly abstract techno, which never fails to get the madder floors moving.

5. (I)sodyne - Yeah Yeah (Avionix)
A new unreleased track from our own stable. I might be biased, but this delicate blend of electronics and deep, chord-y dubtech really hits the spot.

6. Andrew Mcglauchlan - Worldwide (Figment)
A hammering beast of a track; tough, tribal and utterly relentless, this is true techno to the core.

7. EMF - Search and Destroy (Parlophone)
A rare cover of Iggy Pop, and a complete monster it is - heavy, punky sound, this shows off a different and much rawer side to EMF.

8. Euterke - Fragments Oniriques (unreleased)
A MySpace treasure - quite simply the best melodic/deep techno I've heard in quite some time, awe inspiring and magical; a true musical rediscovery.

9. Heiko Laux - Moved (Ricardo Villalobos mix)
This deep/jazzy techno number gets a tribalistik minimal mix from Villalobos. Anyone who doubts this man's talent really needs to check this epic track: deep, moving with a skanking tribal groove.

10. Steevio - Balance (Mindtours)
I love this style: deep, abstract, clear and melodic, the sort of music that stands clearly above the rest of the pack in terms of originality and raw musical talent.
