DJ Chart: Dan Bland (Local Product / Solid Steel)
| 17 Mar 2006
1. Aesop Rock – Fast Cars (Definitive Jux)
Awesome 12" from the current Aesop Rock album, one of the most under-estimated rappers out there. Serious rhymes and a deadly beat combine to rock any dance floor. Mixes well with drum and bass too!
2. Rawdog – Arrest The President (Low Life)
Produced by Rawdog featuring Taskforce and Braintax plus some political lyrics. A new old tune that's currently killing the dance floor at Solid Steel.
3. Public Enemy – Arizona (Def Jam)
What more needs to be said? If you don't own it you should.
4. Sonic Youth – Teenage Riot (Geffen)
A personal favourite from the best band on the planet.
5. Underdog – White Label (Bite It)
I've been looking for this for ages and it popped into my hands in Avalanche while I was digging. Instrumental EP with about 10 tracks on it all heavy hip-hop killers.
6. Perceptionists – 5 O'Clock (Definitive Jux)
From the album "Black Dialogue" which is probably my favourite album at the moment. One for anyone who works a 9-5 and hates it.
7. B-Burg – My Name Is? (Local Product)
Labi Sifre/Eminem rip off which will be the first release on our label. Has received support from J. Mountain & DJ Food. Has the whole dance floor in fits of laughter whenever I play it.
8. Chris Liebing and Ben Sims – Work It (Cl-Rec)
Always loved Ben Sims, don't get much chance to play stuff like this anymore, but when I do it never fails to take the roof off!
9. Usmann – You're the Same (Cryogenic)
This boy is a genius. Leeds based label Cryogenic hits with an absolute slammer. Lyrical genius from a man who no longer performs (our loss).
10. Depth Charge – Disciple Of The Blade (Where the Fuck Am I?) (DC Recordings)
Dirty, slow, badly produced... never fails to get 'em going at Split.
