AL Kennedy, Tam Dean Burn and Somerset Maugham award winner Rodge Glass are invited by the organisers of DiScomBoBuLate to show what they can do in a new performance night for the Edinburgh Festival period.

Using a format that is credited with producing Jerry Springer the Opera, the best of Scottish writing and performing talent will be given ten minutes, a stage and an audience to do with what they will. The idea for the night was purloined from the rowdy and successful Scratch Nights at The Arches and Battersea Arts Centre, so expect a similar mix of high calibre creative talent giving it their all.

Originally devised as an outlet for experimentation where writers would be pushed to pursue new ideas on stage and under time pressure, the results for this kind of show have often been controversial - so with the promise of comedy, literature and intrigue on offer it's well worth the six pounds entrance fee.

The evening will feature amongst others writer/comedian AL Kennedy and Glasgow based writer Annelise Mackintosh armed with stories fresh from BBC Radio 4. Also with music from Maple Leaves and master of ceremonies Alan Bissett. Credit to the promoters for putting on the kind of night Edinburgh sorely needs.
