Art Late @ Stills, 28 Aug

Article by Rosamund West | 27 Aug 2008

The Edinburgh Art Festival is drawing to a close, but there’s still just enough time to catch up on any of the shows that you’ve missed. Art Late is a final trip around the programme now that the crowds have largely dispersed, a night-time event offering the chance to meander between venues exploring existing shows and seeing some of the plethora of unique events specially created for one night only. All in all Art Late takes in fourteen different galleries and ten events. The organisers offer you the choice of two pre-packaged tours, or the tools for going it alone. Tessa Lynch and Shona Handley are your guides for the Giving Tour, a trip with a performative element designed to reveal previously concealed aspects of the Festival’s exhibitions. The tour will take in Stills, Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Bourne Fine Art, Grey Gallery and Ingleby Gallery. The rival gang of the night will be the Running Tour, spearheaded by Steven Mykietyn , a faster-paced alternative for those keen to squeeze as much as possible into their three hours. It’ll go to Stills, Advocate’s Close, Collective, Atticsalt, Doggerfisher, Edinburgh Printmakers and will conclude at Ingleby Gallery.

Art Late kicks off in Stills on Cockburn Street at 6pm Thursday 28 Aug and finishes up with the final event in the Ingleby Gallery at 8pm with a performance by local heroes Paul Vickers and The Leg. To reserve a place go to Stills and pick up a pass from the Art Festival centre in the basement. Alternatively, email info@edinburghartfestival.com or call 0750 046 1332.
