Art Late: Back With A Vengeance

Preview by Rosamund West | 23 Aug 2011

The Edinburgh Art Festival will once again be going out in style with an after hours extravaganza of events tying together the different exhibitions across the city with a programme of tours, performances, live music and film. The festivities start at 5pm with some magic from Ali Cook in the Ingleby Gallery and end late in the evening with a Micachu DJ set at Tamsyn Challenger in Canongate Venture on New Street. Yes, Art Late is back on Thursday 25 August revamped and rejuvenated, and it’s all for free. But you need to book. You can do that here.

This year there is a choice of three tours – two on foot and one on a bus. There’s also a champagne, chaffeur-driven minibus going from Collective around all their offsite festival projects, leaving at 6pm and 7pm. Booking is again essential. All the galleries involved have their own events happening throughout the evening, so you can go direct to them if you are well against the idea of organised tour fun.

There’s also a specially commissioned ambient artwork to download if you want to go it alone. Watch the Water, produced by Coney and Trigger, can be picked up here.
