The Gibson Street takeaway's been standing since the mid-60s, and has since opened a restaurant on North Street. Koh-i-Noor specialise in Punjabi cooking, with a focus on chicken dishes, parathas, and a wealth of other specialities including the rather amazing Bhuna Lamb. The name translates loosely as ‘Mountain of Light’, and refers to a 105 carat diamond mined in India, which would later end up a part of the British Crown Jewels.

The service here is excellent, honed by decades of hungry students from the neighbouring university and Glasgow academy. There’s plenty on offer, including much of the main menu from their counterpart restaurant, as well as your standard kebabs served with the much-raved about dipping sauce, one that’s particularly more-ish and not too harsh on your tastebuds.
