Glasgow has a thriving comedy scene and central to this is The Stand, one of the finest comedy venues in the UK and a favourite of many stand-ups because of the venue’s intimate cabaret club-style setup.
Not to be missed is Red Raw, their weekly showcase of new comedy, in which punters can catch various up-and-coming acts, as well as fully-fledged big name stand-ups hitting the stage.
You’ll also find bigger named comedians here, sometimes out trying new material, but often they swing by as part of a show tour.
The venue also plays host to numerous acts during the Glasgow International Comedy Festival. The yearly event, in its 14th year, attracts comedy stars from around the UK and beyond, and has grown to be Europe’s largest comedy festival.
Other Glasgow venues that do stand-up well are Yesbar, where you can get a meter-long pizza alongside laughs at its regular comedy night Laughter Eight, and The Duke Bar, where you’ll find the monthly Laldy Comedy New Material Night.
