A pub and live music venue with a richly impressive history and a cult status among the folks of Manchester. The Castle Hotel still manages to retain its 'best kept secret' vibe, although it is rapidly becoming the place to go to catch the best upcoming and emerging new bands, with the likes of Bill Ryder-Jones, James Bay and Rough Trade signing Soak previously passing through.

The small back room hosts regular events, including literary nights such as Bad Language, which hosts a range of new writers and cutting edge spoken word performers. The bar itself stocks a huge selection of craft and continental beers, as well as having ten local ales on tap. The pub's three cosy rooms and one of the best jukeboxes around helps the pub retain a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and it's a great place for starting off a night out or to have a pre-gig pint.

The Castle was one of the Best Pub winners in The Skinny Food and Drink Survey 2017, as voted by The Skinny readers. See the results in full here.
