PS Mirabel

Located on the ground floor of Mirabel Studios, PS Mirabel is something of a creative hub for new and emerging Manchester artists. Since opening in August 2009 the gallery has strived to support new artistic talent and often connects with graduates and Masters students from universities in the North West, including Manchester Metropolitan, Liverpool John Moores, and Salford. The Mirabel Studios occasionally host artist discussions, as well as holding Open Studio events twice a year, so that the public can see work by the studios' 25 artists in residence. The exhibitions — which are usually group shows based on a specific theme — in the gallery aim to rotate every six weeks to showcase a whole range of new art, whether that's paintings, illustration or sculpture, by both guest artists and work created within the studios. PS Mirabel is in the same building as Paper Gallery, which is also worth visiting. [Charlotte Davies]
