State Bar

Just round the corner from the ABC venue, the State Bar is perfectly positioned for a pre-gig pint. It's also worth a visit for its own sake since it's a good, comfortable old school boozer with a couple of real ales on tap and a circular bar to lean on. There's a downstairs bar as well with a curiously libraryish feel. Along with pubs like the Bon Accord or The Pot Still,, the State Bar can be a handy antidote to the relentless wave of new 'concept' bars which come and go as swiftly as acne.

Look out for the odd gig or comedy night.
