Pavement

Merchant City’s latest offering, Pavement has a pretty good sense of place. The large pub on Hutcheson Street opened in September 2018 and has been quietly garnering popularity ever since.

The family-run venture is a sort of happy medium for the area, with a solid food menu of pub faves to choose from, such as fish and chips, steak pies and burgers. And just try to resist the magnetic power of the mac and cheese toastie, which is exactly as good as you might hope.

The beer menu is well-curated too, with a good rotating selection available on tap and well-stocked chiller cabinets of bottles and cans from international craft breweries, and its short but confident cocktail list offers something different to the norm. What's more, its location on the corner down from Candleriggs is a fine place to enjoy some al fresco beverages when the sun is out.
