If you’ve been for a night out at The Rum Shack, the chances are you have visited the tiny kebab shop Kurdish Street Food on nearby Allison Street.

End of the night kebabs have a bit of a bad reputation. Even if you have what you believe to be a truly amazing one, you can never be sure – how impaired was your judgement? Visiting the place again in the cold light of day can be a sobering experience when you realise the kebab of your dreams was, well, pretty much a dream. The same cannot be said for Kurdish Street Food, which does a roaring trade from AM to PM.

This place does legitimately delicious kebabs that are worth coming back for to appreciate them with all of your faculties. Flatbreads are made fresh there and then, and their shawarma is the stuff of Glasgow legend. We literally travelled across town for a taste of their iconic falafel wraps and they did not disappoint.

There are a couple of seats if you want to make a sit-down meal of it, but the vibe is more grab and go. The small space is so unassuming that you would be forgiven for walking right past what looks like a not-particularly-special takeaway spot.

And thanks to you, Skinny readers, people will think twice about passing by this place in future. You sang Kurdish Street Food’s praises in our recent 2019 Food & Drink Survey, giving it a well-deserved nod in the Best Streetfood and Takeaway category.
