Marcella's Italian Bakery is not regarded as the most inviting of businesses huddled in the thriving area of Tollcross, but you just simply shouldn't judge a bakery by its cover.

This wee nook is one of Edinburgh's little secrets, and a truly special experience if you catch 'em on a good day. It's just the one fellow, Angelo, taking the reins, so it's sometimes the case that service is a little slow, or perhaps things go slightly awry. 

Some prefer the predictablity of picking up a carbon-copy crossiant at a Starbucks, a quattro formaggi at Pizza Express - but where's the fun in that? Give 'em a gamble, treat yourself to some of the freshest, most flavoursome fare in this neck of Edinburgh. It's all reasonably priced and fullsome portions, so it's most likely to be worth your while.
