Machina Espresso - Brougham Place

Since opening in 2013, Machina Espresso’s reputation as one of Edinburgh’s finest purveyors of coffee has continued to grow from strength to espresso-infused strength - so much so that they’ve now opened a second branch over on Nicolson St.

Tucked away on a quiet street between the bustle of Tollcross and the Meadows park, the company’s flagship bar on Brougham Place may appear small and unassuming but don’t let that put you off; good things, after all, come in small packages.

When it comes to coffee, these guys know their stuff.  Their in-house White Label Espresso blend - hot from their shiny new roastery - packs a fair punch, and customers are also able to choose from a menu of lovingly selected guest blends from rotating European, African and South American names.

Minimalists will love the no-fuss interior, with its trademark whitewashed walls and grey paintwork, while unabashed coffee geeks will find themselves spoiled for choice with the range of gadgets on offer. Machina pride themselves on their espresso-making expertise, and as well as stocking a range of specialist brewing equipment, offer training for those looking to hone their latte-art skills.
