HOME is a brand new centre for theatre, art and film based in Manchester's First Street development. Founded after the Library Theatre Company and the much beloved Cornerhouse Cinema merged, the centre holds two theatre spaces, five cinema screens, three gallery spaces and much more. Priding itself on being the place to visit to find engaging and innovative media, HOME sets out to impact and benefit the city both artistically and socially. The centre's cinema screens are a world away from your local Odeon, screening independent films and documentaries by film-makers all over the world. The theatre spaces welcome both local and emerging companies, encouraging exciting and ambitious productions, and the art galleries hold specially commissioned work by local and more renowned artists, with both areas pushing the creative boundaries in order to bring the most innovative works to the city. Beyond the theatre and film, HOME hosts creative events, workshops and networking events for people of all ages and interests. There's also a bookshop stocking independent titles, and a restaurant serving up pizzas, salads and burgers. [Charlotte Davies]
