  • The pub is pretty sweet, nice layout and superb choice of drinks. Had been to Chinaski's for food previously and was very impressed, so decided to try Black Sparrow.....bad move. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the beer was cold and tasty...then came the food...I ordered a veggie burger, it was awful :( it was REALLY greasy, fell apart when touched and tasted like it had been bought from farmfoods, the chips were greasy also and the "salad" was a slice of tomato and a few lettuce leaves, extremely disappointing....considering Chinaski's is linked to the Black Sparrow and their food is pretty good! Needless to say, won't be going back....well, perhaps for a few drinks....definately not the food!

  • Great looking bar, attentive staff, huge array of drinks, food - AWFUL! Its hard to believe that this place is owne by the same folk as Chinaski's. The food next door is pretty decent so we thought the food in Black Sparrow would be at the same level - big mistake. There was no effort made in the dishes. I had fish and chips - the fish was ok, the chips were undercooked and hard in the middle, and the mushy peas tasted of vinegar. I felt sorry for the staff as they really made an effort but we didn't leave a tip because the food was substandard at best. I won't be eating here again

  • Was in for dinner with friends on a week night and honestly had the worst service I have ever experienced. The staff lacked the most basic skills - such as a simple smile or friendly greeting. We were not offered a second drink, no one checked if our meals were ok, the waiter took our plates away without saying a word, and no offer of dessert or the bill. AWFUL!! Shame as the food was ok.
