The Tron theatre in the Merchant City offers a mixed bill of new writing and re-workings of established texts. With its emphasis on Scottish, UK and world premieres, it's pretty much the place to experience new theatre first. Additionally, it plays host to many of the city's arts festivals such as Glasgay!, Celtic Connections and the Merchant City Festival. Of recent years they have also played host to the Glasgow theatre festival Mayfesto, a collection of performances, talks and workshops that celebrate the spoken word and explore contemporary global issues. In addition to theatre performances, this 16th century building also hosts exhibitions in The Tron’s Long Gallery and boasts a swanky theatre bar and restaurant for all your indulgent needs.
