What the Irish chain pub lacks in character it makes up for in functionality – it’s a total Ronseal job, offering cheap Guinness, big plasma screens, and reasonably priced pub lunches. O’Neils is definitely a safe option for sports fans wanting to stick to Sauchiehall Street as there’s plenty of room and plenty of staff behind the bar. O’Neils also host the usual fare of cover bands, singer/songwriters and folksy jam sessions, for anyone who enjoys a bit of background warbling when they’re enjoying their pint.   

In any case, it makes a change from Wetherspoons. The Irish credentials may be questionable, but then again that should make it right at home in Glasgow.
