Nice 'n' Sleazy
At this point, it’s fair to say that Glasgow institution Nice 'n' Sleazy has transcended its status as an exclusively indie niche where you’ll occasionally spot the guys from Arab Strap. Sleazy's now offers such a wide variety of resident DJs and gig nights that technically anyone should be able to have a good time here. With a surprisingly spacious bar upstairs featuring regular drinks offers, including the ever-present White and Black Russians, you won't need too much cash for a night out either. Downstairs you'll find the wee, charmingly unkempt dance hall, the perfect place to throw some shapes and experience intimate performances from local heroes, underground legends, and touring bands on the cusp of glory.
Food duties are now courtesy of the well-established Where The Monkey Sleeps group, who, amongst other things, have been keeping GSA students’ stomachs full for years. Whilst not as cheap as previous incarnations, the menu boasts some dangerously-satisfying sandwiches (try the 'Overlord' – fish fingers, chorizo, pea puree and tartare sauce on ciabatta), and a very decent selection of contenders for the best burger in Glasgow, with particularly exciting ingredients including the chilli jam, the goats cheese, and, for veggies, the grilled, marinated halloumi. Just don’t expect to get too much done after tackling one.
