Dating back to 1841, City Halls in the Merchant City is Glasgow’s oldest purpose built performance space. The traditional horseshoe auditorium is famous for its fine acoustics and seats over a thousand people. City Halls houses rehearsal, recording, broadcasting and webcasting facilities as well as the Scottish Music Centre – a one-stop-shop for anyone interested in the study of music.

Throughout the year they run a busy programme of public music workshops and classes catering to a variety of abilities. As residence of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, home to community choir Merchant Voices, and host venue for several of Glasgow festivals – including Mayfest, Celtic Connections, and the Jazz Festival – it’s a wonder there’s ever a quiet moment at City Halls.
