Taking place in seven venues and studios around Glasgow's East End from 9-15 May, Restless Natives is a cross-platform, multi-venue festival which aims to shine a light on independent purveyors of music, film, food and drink from Scotland and beyond.

In the first wave of announcements today, Cardiff's agit rock underdogs Future of the Left (who return with fifth album The Peace & Truce of Future of the Left this April), will be joined by Sheffield mathcore champions Rolo Tomassi and guests at the city's recently opened Saint Luke's on Saturday 14 May, while Canadian composer Tim Hecker (on the heels of his first LP for 4AD) and electronic maverick Blanck Mass will commandeer the venue the following evening. Tickets are available here now.

"In a nutshell, Restless Natives is looking to unite many different groups, creative industries, ethnicities, ages and socio-political perspectives under one broadly inclusive and progressive umbrella," explain the festival's organisers. "Proving to everyone who thinks otherwise that independent business and art can still thrive in an increasingly globalised world economy and that Scotland, with its celebrated reputation in these fields, is the perfect place to lead the way."

"All events will be individually priced as affordably as possible to ensure accessibility for people from all economic backgrounds. We will also be donating a portion of gate receipts towards specially nominated East End charities to try and make some lasting difference to the community that has welcomed us, rather than just trashing their house and leaving like some jerk crashing a party."

Full details of further showcases, film nights and talks programmed by the likes of Glasgow Film Theatre, Fuzzkill Records, Nice n' Sleazy,  Song, By Toad, Struggletown and The Skinny for the week-long event are set to be announced in the coming days.
