Blanck Mass joins Pleasance Sessions weekender
Blanck Mass – aka Benjamin John Power of Fuck Buttons – will top the bill for our night at October’s Pleasance Sessions weekender in Edinburgh, marking his first indoor Scottish show in some time.
Power, who released second Blanck Mass LP Dumb Flesh in May, joins SAY Award-winner and self-styled flamenco punk RM Hubbert, rising psych five-piece Outblinker and alt-pop duo BDY_PRTS on the bill for our show on Sat 10 October.
Our music editor Dave Kerr had this to say about the night: "Since the folks at EUSA first invited us to get involved in 2013 we've done our level best to programme a Pleasance Session that makes the most of the environment each year, hopefully taking the crowd on a few left turns and ultimately staying true to the kind of quality music we've been supporting since day one.
"With it being The Skinny's tenth anniversary this year, it's a good feeling to have the likes of Outblinker, BDY_PRTS, RM Hubbert and Blanck Mass on board; they've each played a part in the magazine's history (in various guises) over the years and say a lot about past, present and future definitions of the Scottish scene. Trust us, you don't want to miss this."
Elsewhere on the Pleasance Sessions line-up, Glasgow garage rockers PAWS and the post-folk of Blue Rose Code headline live nights while the Pleasance Sessions Market Place will feature stalls from a host of indie labels from across Scotland. The Pleasance Sessions takes place on 9-11 October at Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s Pleasance Theatre – the full line-up can be found below, tickets for the 2015 Pleasance Sessions go on sale on Fri 21 August.
Blanck Mass also headlines The Skinny stage at Electric Fields festival at Drumlanrig Castle, Dumfries and Galloway on Sat 29 August. You can see the man slay at a recent Boiler Room session here.
