The Blue Lady Sings @ Venue 272, The Three Sisters

Curing The Blues

Feature by Mark Harding | 16 Aug 2010

Tricity Vogue’s show sparkles as brightly as the glitter on her eyes. Those of you too young to remember B&W telly may need reminding that The Blue Lady was an incredibly popular print in the 60’s, and de rigueur for any council house interior. Well, like a very pleasant ghost, The Lady materialises to entertain us with the tale of how the men in her life have made her so very very blue.

Mixing less well-known love songs, such as the touching ‘Sometimes I wish I had a gun’, with old standards - from Cole Porter through Soft Cell to Lady Gaga - Vogue has a sure sense of how to pick songs that connect with the audience. And boy, can The Blue Lady sing!

Vogue delivers non-stop hilarity, whimsy, wit, and an enviable ability to put the audience at ease. You’ll find yourself singing along and foot tapping even if you hadn’t intended to. The Lady is kind, respectful and just damn nice. Her bad-tempered assistants are also terrific.

The show is up for the Favourite Fringe Musical MTM People’s Choice Awards. What a great wtf if it won!

And it’s free! Queue now.
