Set it Off! Streetdance Championships 2011 @ City

Article by Daph Karoulla | 15 Aug 2011

A fight to the death? Perhaps not, but these dance crews can't stop and won't stop until they get to the top. Based on the age-old breakin' tradition of pitting crew against crew, Moving in Circles along with Random Aspekts bring you Set it Off! Street Dance Championships 2011.

From the organisers and host of Castle Rocks Breakdance Championships, this street dance competition is bound to re-align your thinking, get you up on your feet and make you bounce to that beat.

There are 3 judges from different styles intending to keep the bar raised as high as possible. They are: Ivan Blackstock (artistic director from Birdgang), Matt Finish (Random Aspekts Bboy crew) and last (but definitely not least) Dickson, the Juste Debout UK Popping Champion 2011. The competition itself is hosted by mighty compere Tony Thrills and is split into two categories: crews and soloists. Aside from bringing all they have to the dance floor, crews are required to bring their own music (in CD or any other digital format). They have only 5 minutes to impress the judges with their choreography and make the audience beg for more. On the other hand, soloists are to bring only themselves and their best stand-up freestyle moves, to perform to a sound track provided by DJ P-Stylz.

Prizes include £500 (tax-free!), and an array of other exciting artifacts that the organisers have come up with. Yet ultimately, the grand prize is R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Come on down and see who sets it off this year!
