The first bands have been announced for next year's Outlines festival in Sheffield have been announced, with Jagwar Ma set to headline.

The Australian trio lead the line-up for Outlines 2017 (3 & 4 March), playing the Sheffield Leadmill alongside a selection of local acts headed up by Slow Club and indie-pop quartet The Crookes. Also on the bill for Outlines 2017 are Leeds DIY heroes Cowtown, Glasgow R'n'B duo Bossy Love, psych outfit Hookworms and Young Fathers collaborator Law Holt. Read the full list of bands announced below; Outlines are also encouraging emerging bands and artists to apply to play at next year's festival – details on the application process can be found on the festival website.

Organised by the team behind the city's Tramlines Festival, last year's inaugural Outlines featured sets from Shura, Roots Manuva, Gang of Four and Nimmo. The festival's programmer, Kate Hewett, says: “We've expanded Outlines for its second year to allow us to showcase an even broader range of artists and to give more of a platform to breaking talent from across a range of genres. With the likes of Loyle Carner, Shura and Spring King having featured on 2016's bill, we're confident that there will be some new names to suit all tastes on 2017's line-up.”

Outlines 2017 takes place at venues across Sheffield on 3 & 4 Mar 2017; weekend tickets are on sale now at £15.
