Baltic Weekender: new Liverpool festival announced

Move D, Elijah & Skilliam and more play a new three-day festival across Liverpool's Baltic Triangle

Feature by The Skinny North | 22 Mar 2017

Club promoters Abandon Silence and the 24 Kitchen Street crew have teamed up to launch the Baltic Weekender (2-4 Jun), a brand new festival for Liverpool.

Taking in venues across the Baltic Triangle, the line-up includes prodigious producer Gerd Janson, Glaswegian house dynamo Denis Sulta, much-loved Manc DJs Swing Ting and many more.

The organisers' aim is to celebrate 'the continued diversity of the richly vibrant music culture that has driven the Baltic Triangle’s development' at a time when many of the venues in the area have come under threat from residential projects. The festival hopes to bring together local promoters and spaces 'in a show of unity' to mark Liverpool's contribution to electronic music and what has made the Baltic Triangle area specifically such a focus for music, arts and creativity – and to seek to preserve its future.

As well as appearances from Axel Boman, Suede Brown and ASOK, the festival will feature Abandon Silence's 7th birthday celebrations, events from Kitchen Street's flagship clubs Hot Plate and The Wonder Pot, and the kind of high-spec production/design installations that many of these nights have become known for.

Taking place across Constellations, New Bird Street Warehouse, Great Baltic Warehouse, Botanical Garden, 24 Kitchen Street and 149 Warehouse, Baltic Weekender is produced in partnership with Banana Hill, Boogaloo, Dimensions Festival, Down To Funk, Hot Plate, Loose Lips, Melodic Distraction, NGHTWRK, Pause, Pretty Pretty Good, Raw, Remission, Transmission Funk, Tribe and Wonder Pot.
