The fourth single to be taken from debut album Overtones, Writers Block doesn't exactly raise the bar. Admittedly less overtly cheesy than big hit Starz in Their Eyes, this is actually quite a soothing, inoffensive summer song. But the combination of his not particularly gritty or witty lyrics, the monosyllabic delivery, and an uninspired backing track, create an instantly forgettable piece of music. Having said that though he does seem to be adeptly filling the niche that Mike Skinner has temporarily vacated, it would just be nice if his efforts emulated The Streets debut. [Peter Walker]
