Don't-miss parties this week:

Fri 5 Aug

Zutekh presents Margaret Dygas
Soup Kitchen, 10pm, £12.50

The first two lots of tickets for this have sold out, so you might wanna get on it sooner rather than later: deep sounds from Berlin-based but internationally informed Margaret Dygas, a Panorama Bar resident with a fondness for jazz.

Sat 6 Aug

Means&3rd and Kerrie
Eastern Bloc, 6pm, free

By now you're used to beginning the weekend at Eastern Bloc, right? If not, this Friday's a good time to start, as they've got a late license for an eight-hour set between Blocheads Ben Marsden (aka Means&3rd) and Kerrie. No need to move on anywhere else if you don't want...

Body to Move
with Tom Blip, Contours & Cervo
Soup Kitchen, 11pm, £5

...although you could hot-foot it across Stevenson Square to Soup, for the inauguration of Body to Move radio show as a live event! Every month on Reform Radio, Contours and Cervo bring you a mix of global sounds and cosmic innovations, and tonight they're taking it IRL with a headlining set from Blip Discs' Tom Blip.

Can You Dig It? with Deep Space Orchestra
The Whiskey Jar, 10pm, £3

It's the first time in the intimate Whiskey Jar basement for Can You Dig It?, who christen their new series with moody duo Deep Space Orchestra (joined by residents Chris Roots and Tom Rbb). Expect a genre-hopping session of funk, disco, soul and house, all of it weighty.

No Hassle x Unity Radio presents Yousef
Gorilla, 11pm, £12-£15

No Hassle and Unity Radio present Yousef (Circus), whose last appearance in Manchester was a sellout. Support comes from Lewis Smith, Brian Murphy, Mike Lavercombe and Ryan Croft. Listen to some of Yousef's faves here.

Doodle's 5th birthday w/ Francis Inferno Orchestra
Soup Kitchen, 26 Aug, 11pm, £8

It's Doodle's fifth birthday (toot toot!), so to celebrate with something a little bit special, they're inviting Australia's Francis Inferno Orchestra along for some dreamy house wizardry.

The Hidden Forest - Hidden 1st birthday
Hidden, 28 Aug, 2pm, £20-£25

Tickets look to be flying out for this one – no wonder, when Hidden is widely regarded as one of the city's best hideouts, and this is more than just a regular night; it's a party to celebrate their first year in the game. It'll be worth the dolla.

Warehouse Project 2016
Various dates from 23 Sep, Store Street Warehouse

It's back! It's only been on sale a fortnight and a shedload of nights have sold out already, of course. Highlights from this year's Warehouse Project programme with tickets still available include a third birthday bash from Manchester hip-hop crew Levelz, a by-now traditional Bugged Out! love-in with Daniel Avery, Jeremy Underground and Jimmy Edgar, and a fucking heavy one from The Ape with Danny Brown, Wiley, Oneman and Wookie. Here's our round-up; full details over at the WHP website.

Festival watch

Book ahead for Moovin (26-28 Aug, Etherow Country Park, South Manchester), which looks like it'll have some right lovely feels – not least from Ruf Dug, Moonboots & Boardman, Justin Robertson and Red Laser Records head honcho DJ Woody, among others.
