Spare Snare - Sort it for afterwards

gone is the gratingly lo-fi production of their earlier releases

Single title: Sort it for afterwards
Artist: Spare Snare
Label: Chute

Prolific Dundee songsters Spare Snare return with the first single from their seventh album and it's a pleasingly broader sound. An incredibly catchy mandolin riff (how often can you say that?) opens proceedings, with accordion filling out the spaces and lending a far more atmospheric feel than usual. The lads have seemingly managed to reel in the folksy, sea-shanty charm of their Fence Collective counterparts from along the coast and gone is the gratingly lo-fi production of their earlier releases. This should still please any former fan as it remains true to the appeal of their mellow moments with the quirky, sweet and lilting melody. If you haven't heard them yet, this is an encouraging place to start. [Caroline Hurley]
