The Royal Commonwealth Pool, or ‘the Commie’ to the locals, is Edinburgh’s only 50 metre pool, making it an official Commonwealth-sized pool (used for the Glagsow 2014 Commonwealth Games Diving, no less).

The Commie has been around since the 1960s and sits in the shadow of Arthur’s Seat on Dalkeith Road. And, now refurbished, it offers access to premuim swimming and diving facilities. Speaking of which, there are also a range of diving lessons available, from novice training through to master classes. What's more, if you're looking to improve your breaststroke, or perhaps have a kiddiewink who's a keen swimmer, there are all sorts of swimming lesson programmes with which to get involved.

On top of that, the refurb has freed up the space and resources for many a fitness and health class, from high energy to dance, conditioning to water-based aerobics. Check out the website for a regularly updated calendar of lessons, activities and events, along with class times and prices.
