Open for around three decades, Whighams is a popular haunt for wine enthusiasts, both local and globally. It's a pretty romantic setting, on the site of early 19th century cellars in Edinburgh's Georgian New Town. No need to worry about squeezing into an over-populated basement though – with 150 seats, beautiful interior stonework and clean, modern decor, it's a gorgeous location to sip the night away on a delicious Italian Soave Classico. If you stop by and find yourself enamoured by the selection, there's also the option of signing up to the Wine Club, giving you access to monthly wine tasting and events with wine makers from far and wide.

The menu is comprised of elegant seafood dishes, steak, beef, or a specialist Market Menu – the latter offering a two or three course set of seasonal favourites. Not forgetting the side-order of jazz – visit the restaurant on the right nights and you'll be treated to open mics and jazz jams. Event details, booking information and more about the Wine and Jazz clubs are available on the Whighams website.
