Odds and Ends

Cutesie cafe Odds and Ends' moniker suit them far beyond the wee containers of plastic shrapnel and novelties stacked along the walls. Indeed, the treats they tout also seem sort of piecemeal - soup sourced from Union of Genius, coffee roasted by Mr. Eion, and all manner of other quirky cakes and traybakes (we're particularly taken with the notion of a Daim bar slice).

But, in the same way that the OXO cube decorations, rusty frames and other novelties make up for a unique atmosphere, the chance to sample some of the best flavours in Edinburgh under one roof is also quite the novelty. What's more, their menu is served up on proper old fashioned crockery, bidding a jolly farewell to cake served on slate and coffee served in jamjars. And all the better for it.

Odds and Ends is also dog friendly establishment, and furthermore it doesn't discriminate according to size or breed, meaning even your biggest German Shephard can pop along for a mooch if it so desires. [Kate Pasola]
