When Aussie-born espresso aficionado Sam Young arrived in Edinburgh in 2015, he had big dreams. Having honed his coffee-making skills as head roaster at well respected Five Senses Coffee across the pond in Perth, Australia, he was determined to set up shop with his own roasting company here in Scotland's capital.

Obadiah started out as a pop-up shop with a roastery out in Sofia, and had a permanent base on the Grassmarket up until April 2016, with a quirky interior and all the coffee produced in the city itself. Now, the team supply the Obadiah roast blend in coffee shops around Edinburgh, with a roastery based in Granton.

The team are serious about producing high quality stuff. They use only the very finest beans, carefully sourced from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Brazil. All coffees are kept to single blend, to keep them as pure as can be and to keep the taste true to their home region. There's no added extras or fancy schmancy embellishments, nor would you want there to be. This is, quite simply, coffee stripped bare and done well.

With a successful wholesale business that's growing by the day (and even barista training opportunities if you're looking to brush up on those latte art skills), we're predicting big things for this enthusiastic bunch.
