Museum on the Mound

The Museum on the Mound specialises in the history of money, money, money. The museum is housed next door to the head office for the Bank of Scotland which nowadays is also home to Lloyds Banking Group, and is a very grand building overlooking Princes Street and beyond. The museum takes a look at the history of money and what it’s meant in the past (we used to deal in tea and shells and stuff, you know). There’s exhibits covering all sorts of things relating to the big bucks, along with an opportunity to see what £1 million pounds really  looks like in actual money. Probably the closest most of us will get to such a thing! There’s great resources for children and school visits as well with hands on activities and great input from staff. And unlike the theme of the museum itself, it’s actually free to get in. Wehay!
