Yes indeed, Edinburgh does have a canal, the start of which sits just behind Cargo Bar on Fountainbridge and opens out into a lovely stretch of water very reminiscent of Rosie and Jim. Beginning in Edinburgh Quay, the Union Canal continues for 32 miles over aqueducts, tunnels and beautiful scenery until it links with the Forth and Clyde Canal at the Falkirk Wheel. It’s a lovely place to cycle or walk and there’s even a floating coffee shop (called Brunel Coffee) in the form of a canal boat which offers tea, coffee, delicious cakes and an outdoor seating (weather permitting). Also keep a look out for the Edinburgh Canal Festival which features raft races, lots of stalls and lots of cake.
