The National Museum of Scotland has galleries dedicated to the natural world, art and design, technology and world culture, as well as a separate section covering the story of Scotland from prehistory to present day. Whether you are a space enthusiast or go gaga over ancient relics there is a room for you.

The spectacular Grand Gallery spans four stories and holds the largest single museum installation in the UK – Window on the World. It showcases a range of objects from all their other collections with such unexpected highlights as the jaws of a sperm whale, a four-seater racing bicycle and a gold-inlaid armour from Iran. There are also plenty opportunities if you prefer hands on action to contemplative viewing – from interactive games to stepping into a Gemini space suit. Culture, education and play rolled into one. “I’m just off to the museum darling – to CONTROL A ROBOT ARM!”
