Filmhouse

Hub of Edinburgh’s International Film Festival, the Filmhouse is a Scottish cultural institution, arguably the crowning glory of the cinemas on Lothian Road. In 1979, the cinema moved into a dilapidated church and transformed it into the elegant yet understated building it inhabits today. Boasting a vast array of films and events, the Filmhouse’s generous Cinema One regularly screens the latest international releases alongside hosting talks with directors and other special guests. Cinemas Two and Three are rather more initimate affairs, and frequently screen a wide variety of cinematic works, including rare 16mm prints.
