What's On Scotland 9-16 Mar: Glasgow Comedy Fest

There's laughter on the horizon with the kick-off of Glasgow Comedy Festival, along with Aye Write, GSFF and a live show from Banks...

Aw, Glasgow International Comedy Festival is now 15 years old. Where does the time go? These festivals grow up so fast. The 2017 edition of GICF takes place from 9-26 Mar, enlisting lol-makers in their hordes to fill Glasgow with hilarity.

All the top dawgs are making their return – Richard Gadd's back with his introspective Fringe successMonkey See Monkey Do (11 Mar, The Stand, Glasgow, 5pm) Fern Brady's bringing Male Comedienne to Blackfriars (24 Mar, 7.30pm); and Scott Agnew's pretty much gigging 24/7.

Flint & Pitch: Show Me the Money
Scottish Storytelling Centre, Edinburgh, 10 Mar, 7.30pm
Revue extraordinaires Flint & Pitch bring another melange of delights to Edinburgh this Friday. The handsome line-up is sure to satiate your cultural cravings (you can read more about it here), AND it's headlined by Paula Varjack’s Show Me The Money, a work about creating a sustainable career as an artist. AND it's only ten pounds. Sign us the fuck up already.



Banks

O2 ABC, Glasgow, 11 Mar, 7pm
Banks is back. Did you hear? For her devotees she never went away, her debut album Goddess a sultry staple stuck in our heads (and on repeat) since its 2014 release. But new material is always fun, and her 2016 record The Altar was happily received. And do you know what'll be received even better? Her live show on Saturday.

Tramway, 18 March, 3pm & 7pm

How dangerous is it to stray from the path, and who is it dangerous for? The acclaimed Barrowland Ballet premieres Wolves, performed by an inter-generational cast of dance artists for an all-ages audience. The thoughtful and entertaining show looks at the moral guidance given across generations; from morality tales told throughout history to cautionary tales of present day.

Jon Ronson's Psychopath Night
Citizens Theatre, Glasgow, 16 Mar, 8pm
Psychopaths: manipulative, deceitful, charming, seductive, delusional, and surprisingly prevalent – apparently around one in every hundred of us. Jon Ronson’s Psychopath Night discusses the freaky (and hilarious) events that led him to his bestselling book, The Psychopath Test. Also taking place at The Lyceum, Edinburgh (19 Mar, 7.30pm) and Old Fruitmarket, Glasgow (22 Mar, 7.30pm).



Aye Write! Festival
