Do you ever feel like a plastic bag? Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again? Well, with the upcoming political apocalypse that is the US presidental elections, we wouldn't blame you. It seems there's no other option than to distract yourself with Scotland's Guy Fawkes offerings this weekend.

If you're East side, head to Meadowbank, or pitch up at Calton Hill for a free viewing of Edinburgh's explosions. SLA's also hosting two nights of firework shows, on 4 Nov in Goldenacre and on 5 Nov in Myreside. Glasgow folk, Glasgow Green's got you covered, and Dundee dwellers can head to Lochee Park and Baxter Park.

For afters, carouse the night away at a Groove Armada bonfire celebration or the launch of Fiesta Bombarda in Edinburgh's Studio 24.  Image: Thomas Munter

The Wytches
Òran Mór, Glasgow. 8 Nov, 7.30pm
Firstly, find out whether the USA have put the nail in the international coffin by electing a morally abhorrent, saggy tangerine-faced dicksplash to lead their country. Then Trump or no Trump, ‘beach goth’ band The Wytches will see to your evening plans; their spiralling guitars and glorious screeching might be enough to take your mind off the state of, well, The States.
