Halloween Happenings

Head to The Caves for Denis Sulta’s Spook Down, or if you’re on the west side, get involved with a Don’t Drop’s spooky special at Subbie.

Guerilla dining gang Section33 are also hosting a pop-up restaurant in a mysterious location, and MILK return, bringing their Pop Punk Karaoke to the Art School, Halloween-style. Edinburgh's Three Sisters will also be screening The Rocky Horror Picture Show in their courtyard cinema on 30 Oct (costumes encouraged).

We'd also HEARTILY recommend Flying Duck's Samhain Convergence, featuring Happy Meals, Hausfrau, Elara Caluna and Den Haan. Day of the Dead-wise, celebrate in Edinburgh with Our Ladies of Sorrow at NEHH or Glasgow at St Luke's for Day of the Dead Glesga.

Let's Eat Grandma
Broadcast, Glasgow. 28 Oct, 7pm
Keep your gig-going extra spooky this week with Let's Eat Grandma, a duo made up of mildly terrifying multi-instrumentalists Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, who specialise in a sinister type of noisy creativity with drops for days. Image: Francesca Allen

CEIBA – Casa de Todos los Muertos
Summerhall, Edinburgh. 28 Oct-23 Dec, 11am-6pm
Summerhall's Festival of Death kickstarts this week, and we're pretty excited for the opening of our October cover star Ross Fraser McLean's exhibition CEIBA – Casa de Todos los Muertos. Head along to ponder over striking photographs taken during his time in Mexico paired with collaborative assemblage inspired by Altares de Muertos (altars of the dead). Image: Ross Fraser McLean

Grain in the Blood
Tron Theatre, Glasgow, 19-29 Oct, 7.45pm
Traverse Theatre, Edinburgh, 1-12 Nov, 7.30pm

Playwright Rob Drummond's pretty prolific at the moment. Just off the back of his Fringe show In Fidelity, he's stuck around these shores with oh, just a couple more plays to share before 2016 is up. His next work, Grain In The Blood, is a thriller ‘steeped in folklore’ that stirs together the ideas of sacrifice and harvests. A gorgeously eerie October treat. Image: Mihaela Bodlovic

World Vegan Day at Flying Duck
Flying Duck, Glasgow, 1 Nov, 12am-1pm
It's World Vegan Day! Flying Duck are due to host an Underwater Love Affair, with one-off burgers, paella and aquatic cocktails (and a so far unexplained ‘octopie’). The place will be decorated with bespoke decor and you’ll also have the chance to catch all kindsa fishy screenings. Cos, y’know, vegans. Image: Mike Hughes
