The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival is officially middle-aged, celebrating its 45th year this summer. With over 110 concerts taking place in the city from 14-23 July, this is the place to be for music enthusiasts this week.

The programme is predictably packed out with big names and hidden gems, Scottish and international, alike. Highlights include the London Afrobeat Collective playing the George Square Spiegeltent, a free Mardi Gras takeover in the Grassmarket, psychedelic electro soul outfit Ibibio Sound Machine playing The Queen's Hall, and - of course - back to back gigs and jam sessions in The Jazz Bar.
