Glasgow International Comedy Festival

It feels like everyone could do with a laugh right now. No, not one of those cry-laughs you have when your energy bill comes through or when you try and buy tomatoes from Tesco, but a proper laugh of joy. Glasgow International Comedy Festival can be your saviour because it returns this month with an overflowing lineup of standup, sketch, drag, music, improv and family-friendly shows to satisfy every funnybone.

The festival kicks off with Frankie Boyle’s Lap of Shame at King’s Theatre on 15 March and comes to a close 19 days later with the festival’s new Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award on 2 April. In between, there are shows from the likes of Stewart Lee, Fern Brady, Phil Wang (pictured), Tim Key, Amy Matthews, Stuart McPherson and Marjolein Robertson, to name just a handful.

We’d also encourage you to dip into some of the Berk’s Nest takeover at The Old Hairdresser’s, which features loads of reasonably priced WIP shows from Skinny faves like Kieran Hodgson, Celya AB, Kiri Pritchard-McLean and sketch group Tarot.

GICF runs 15 Mar-2 Apr. For the full lineup, head to glasgowcomedyfestival.com
