Where to spend Pancake Day in the North

Flippin' 'eck mate! We've rounded up the finest pancake specials and offers in the North this Pancake Day (or Shrove Tuesday, if you prefer), and compiled them into this lovely guide.

Leeds


[Angelica]

Angelica

Rooftop joint Angelica will be hosting its very own pancake bar for the day, where diners can go American or classic and top with toppings including banana, praline and Nutella, seasonal fruits and vanilla cream, bacon and maple syrup, lemon and cinnamon sugar, candy, chocolate and marshmallows. Order a stack and three toppings for £6, or if you're dining there for lunch or dinner and order from the two course set menu (£15), you'll get 'em for free.

Manahatta

Manahatta kick off a Crepe Lucette March takeover on the most fitting day of the year, with a Pancake Day launch do featuring bubbly, canape nibbles, a two-course locally-sourced innovative crepe menu and vintage inspired cocktails from 5.30pm-11pm (tickets cost £25). You can then also catch them there every Wednesday (6pm-11pm) and Sunday (11am-8pm) throughout March.

Crafthouse

Meanwhile, Crafthouse go classic, serving up traditional French pancake staple Crêpe Suzette from Mon 27 Feb-Wed 1 Mar, flambéeing it table-side for true spectacle. More info here.

Laynes Espresso

Along with their usual menu, Leeds coffee heroes Laynes will also be serving up some special pancake dishes all day, until 7pm.

Liverpool

Moose

Already revered in the North for the size of their pancakes, Moose Coffee – and their new sister joint Moonshine & Moonshine Poutinerie – will be putting on some specials for the day. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for more details.

[Pen and Pencil]

Infamous Diner

As well as several Pancake Day specials (Black Forest Gateau, Pecan Pie, Get Some Nuts, Golden Stack, Chocolate Surprise, M & Mmmmmmmms), the Northern Quarter diner will also be hosting their very own Pancake Day Challenge, which involves eating as many plain pancakes as possible in five minutes, with two heats available (12.30pm and 6pm). Common

Free pancakes popping off at Common (and their suburban sister bar The Beagle), where the set-up's simple: buy a drink, get a pancake for free.

Black Dog Ballroom

You'll also get a free pancake with a drink at Black Dog Ballroom – both New Wakefield Street and Northern Quarter venues, though the former will also be hosting a pancake competition from 7pm.

Pen and Pencil

Popular brunch spot Pen and Pencil will be dishing out a boozy pancake special, where a stack of five pancakes are topped with spiced rum and raisin caramel sauce, grilled banana and pecan nuts – yours for £6.50, and available until Sun 5 Mar.

Albert's Schloss

Over at Schloss they're putting on a very tempting Crepe Monsieur, a Pancake Day twist on the French classic sarnie Croque Monsieur – though this one also comes with a fried egg, making it more Madame. YES PLEASE.

Revolution

Because, according to them, making pancakes is "an absolute FAFF", Revs on Deansgate Locks are offering Pancake Day stacks with a range of toppings for £5, which also includes a double shot of pancake syrup vodka to chase it all down. Available from lunch on 28 Feb and all day on 29 Feb – more info here.

Tusk

Build your own pancakes at Tusk in Heaton Moor for £5, with a choice of Nutella, maple syrup, apple, cinammon, blueberries, Oreo and cookies and cream to top 'em.
