If you like stock car racing then maybe you'll get a kick out of playing a game where the majority of the time all you've got to do is keep the accelerator down and steer left, because that simple formula will keep you in the lead from start to finish in NASCAR 09. Not that it's all bad; there are loads of tracks and cars to play with, and even an option to choose your own paint scheme. Thankfully the cars handle nicely as you endlessly zoom round the track and they waddle about the road pleasingly when your tyres wear flat but it never manages to move away from the fact that there's something inherently dull about NASCAR when you're not really there, which makes it a truly crap sport to turn into a game. In a year which has already seen more than its fair share of good racing games, this is one strictly for the fans. [Graeme Strachan]
